Markets are closed on account of Diwali; Muhurat trading at 1745 hours today

Markets will remain closed today on account of Diwali. The exchanges, however,  will conduct a special Muhurat Trading session today between 17:45 hours and 18:45 hours on account of Diwali. Further, tomorrow the markets will remain closed on account of Diwali Balipratipada.

Bond and currency markets, too, will remain closed today (November 11) and tomorrow (November 12) due to Diwali holidays.

On Tuesday, the Sensex closed 392 points lower at 25,729 and the Nifty lost 131 points lower at 7,784 on November 10.

 The rupee appreciated by 13 paise to close at 66.31against the US dollar breaking three day of losses on fresh selling of dollar by banks and exporters despite weakness in the equity market.

GLOBAL STOCK MARKET

Asian markets edged lower on Wednesday as investors remain unnerved ahead of Chinese data pertaining to retail sales, industrial production and urban investment.Japan’s Nikkei and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading flat with a negative bias. Meanwhile, China’s Shanghai Composite has slipped 0.4%.

On the other hand, Wall Street closed the session with marginal gains as investors remain edgy on prospects of an interest rate hike by the US Federal Reserve in the month of December.  Dow .DJI ended Tuesday with a slight gain of 0.16% while S&P 500 .SPX added 0.15% and the Nasdaq .IXIC eased 0.24%.
