The Hang Seng added 404 points to 16,834. The Shanghai Composite advanced 25 points to 2,592.
The Straits Times ended 93 points up (4.5%) at 2,168 and the Taiwan Weighted Index soared 187 points (3%) to 6,567.
However the Seoul Composite slipped four points to 1,393.

The Hang Seng has slipped 105 points to 16,325.
The Shanghai Composite has declined nine points to 2,559. The Straits Times and the Seoul Composite have shed eight points each at 2,066 and 1,390, respectively.
However, the Taiwan Weighted has gained 73 points (1%) to 6,453.
The Nikkei is closed today.
