Asian markets end mixed; Nikkei gains 152pts

Asian markets were mixed today.

The Nikkei gained 2% (152 points) at 8,908. The Hang Seng was up 18 points to 15,601.

The Straits Times advanced 11 points to 1,903.

Meanwhile, the Taiwan Weighted slumped 242 points (4%) to 5,755. The Shanghai Composite declined 30 points (1%) to 2,503. The Seoul Composite also slipped to 1,329.

The Hang Seng have moved up 222 points at 15,805. The Nikkei have registered a gain of 130 points at 8,885.

However, the Shanghai Composite has slipped 8 points at 2,525.

The Taiwan Weighted has dropped 258 points at 5,738. The Strait Times has moved up seven points at 1,899, while Seoul Composite is down nine points at 1,327.

Asian markets, barring Shanghai, have moved up significantly today.

The Nikkei has surged above 2%, up 194 points at 8,949. The Hang Seng has advanced 247  points at 15,830.

The Strait Times is up 20 points at 1,912. The Seoul Composite and the Taiwan Weighted are up around 0.5% each at 1,342 and 6,044, respectively.

However, The Shanghai Composite has declined 43 points at 2,490.
