Black pepper declines on poor demand

Black pepper prices declined at the spices market here today due to reduced offtake from stockists and retailers amidst subdued overseas demand.

Black pepper lost Rs 5 per kilo to Rs 300/320 from its overnight closing level of Rs 305/325.

Meanwhile, rest all other spices closed stable owing to any worthwhile buying activity.

Following are today's closing rates in Rs, with the previous rates in brackets:

Black pepper (per kg) 300/320 (305/325), ginger bleached (per kg) 175 (175), ginger unbleached (per kg) 205 (205), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 6,900 (6,900)

copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 6,800 (6,800), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 9,000 (9,000) and copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 8,200 (8,200)
