Cardamom prices rose by Rs 12 to Rs 895.80 per kg in futures trade today on the back of pick-up in spot market demand amid low stocks due to restricted arrivals from producing regions.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in September rose by Rs 12, or 1.35%, to Rs 895.80 per kg, with a trading volume of 31 lots.
The August contract for the spice also added Rs 11.50, or 1.33%, to Rs 871.90 per kg, with an open interest of 155 lots.
Similarly, for delivery in July, the prices went up by Rs 10.40, or 1.26%, to Rs 831 per kg, with a business volume of 248 lots.
Traders said pick-up in spot market demand against restricted arrivals from the producing regions, mainly led to the rise in cardamom prices at futures market.
