Cardamom prices rose by Rs 17.60 to Rs 1,042 per kg in futures trade today as traders enlarged their commitments, driven by pick-up in export and domestic demand.

The tight stocks position following lower arrivals in the spot market from producing regions also influenced cardamom prices in the futures market here, traders said.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the October contract for cardamom rose by Rs 17.60, or 1.71%, to Rs 1,042 per kg, with a business turnover of 1,448 lots.

The November contract edged up by Rs 2.60, or 0.25%, to Rs 1,027.40 per kg, with a business turnover of 361 lots.
