The Centre will soon start selling imported tur dal through 300 Safal and 100 Kendriya Bhandar outlets in Delhi. The move is aimed at bringing down the retail price of pulses, which has soared in the past few days owing to low supplies.

"So far, 3,250 tonnes of imported tur dal has arrived at Chennai and Mumbai ports and the remaining stock will arrive soon. At present, MMTC has enough stocks to make supplies of tur dal in Delhi and other states," an official statement said.

MMTC would import an additional 2,000 tonnes of tur dal in the next few weeks to augment supplies and moderate prices of pulses.
