Chilli, jeera fall on subdued demand

Red chilli and jeera prices fell by Rs 100 per quintal each in the national capital today on reduced offtake by retailers and stockists due to slow down in demand in the domestic markets amid adequate stocks.

Weak trends at futures market and subdued export demand also put pressure on the prices. Red chilli prices declined by Rs 100 to conclude at Rs 9,400-13,100 per quintal.

Jeera common and best quality also fell by Rs 100 each to conclude at Rs 14,600-14,800 and Rs 16,800-16,900 per quintal, respectively.

Market analysts said subdued export and domestic demand against adequate stocks also put pressure on chilli and jeera prices in the wholesale kirana market here.
