US stocks leaped on Wednesday sparked by results from bellwether Intel Corp that lifted revived hopes for a rebound in technology spending and better corporate profitability.
The Dow Jones industrial average rose 257 points (3%) to 8,616. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index gained 27 points (3%) to 933, its best gain in nearly two months. The Nasdaq Composite Index jumped 63 points (3.5%) to 1,863.
The Indian ADRs ended on a positive note. Wipro and Tata Motors surged above 8% each to $12.21 and $8.59, respectively. Satyam zoomed 7% to $3.89 and Sterlite added 6.5% to $12.94. MTNL advanced 6% to $3.88.
Tata Communications and ICICI Bank increased over 5% each to $19.78 and $29.8, respectively.Patni Computers was up 4% at $11.39. HDFC Bank and Infosys moved up 3.5% each at $95.25 and $ 37.34.Genpact was marginally up at $12.
While Dr Reddys was flat at $15.93.
