Edible oils remain up on millers buying, global cues

Edible oil prices rose upto Rs 100 per quintal in the wholesale oils and oilseeds market in the capital today on increased buying by vanaspati millers and retailers amid firming global trend.

On the other hand, non-edible oils, after trading in a tight range closed around previous closing. Sentiment remained firm after palm oil advanced for the third day in Malayasia on expectation data on shipments from Malaysia, the second-biggest producer, will show an increase.

Meanwhile, palm oil for September-delivery futures rose 1.1 per cent to $727 a metric tonne on the Malaysia Derivatives Exchange. Marketmen said fresh buying by vanaspati millers and reports of rising trend in global markets pushed up the wholesale edible oil prices.

In the edible section, groundnut mill delivery (Gujarat) rose by Rs 100 to Rs 7,700 per quintal, while groundnut solvent refined gained Rs 30 to Rs 1,300-1,310 per tin.

Mustard expeller (Dadari) rose by Rs 80 to Rs 5,000 per quintal. Mustard pakki and kachi ghani oils traded higher by Rs 10 each to Rs 695-850 and Rs 850-950 per tin. Cottonseed mill delivery (Haryana) moved up by Rs 50 to Rs 4,250 per quintal. 

Soyabean refined mill delivery (Indore) and soyabean degum (Delhi) rose by Rs 20 and Rs 30 to Rs 4,540 and Rs 4,350, while crude palm oil (ex-kandla) and palmolein (rbd) went up by Rs 50 and Rs 40 to Rs 3,700 and Rs 4,250 per quintal on firming global trend.
