HCC surges on winning Rs 1,597cr construction project

Shares of Hindustan Construction Company were up over 6% at Rs 14.33 after the company announced that it has received a Rs 1,597 crore order for construction of hydro power project in Uttarakhand.

Hindustan Construction Company has received an EPC Contract from THDC India Ltd. for construction of Vishnugad Pipalkoti Hydro Electric Power Project in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, the company said in a release to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The power projecct is a 444MW (4x111MW) run of river scheme on Alaknanda river, which is a major tributary of river Ganga. The EPC contract is for civil works, hydro-mechanical works including penstock steel liner of the bydro power project, the release said.

The value of the contract is Rs. 1,597 Crore. The project will be completed in 54 months from the date of issue of this Order, the release added.
