The Sensex has fallen shaply in the last few minutes following the announcement of April IIP numbers. The index is now trading in the red at 15,284, down 127 points.
Mahindra & Mahindra has slumped 4% to Rs 784. DLF has slipped 3% to Rs 380.
Reliance Communications, Maruti, Ranbaxy and Tata Motors has shed 2% each to Rs 339, Rs 1,070, Rs 294 and Rs 363, respectively.
Tata Power, Wipro, Hindustan Unilever, SBI, Grasim, Sun Pharma, HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, Infosys and HDFC have dropped 1-2% each.
On the other hand, Sterlite has surged 3.5% to Rs 726. Jaiprakash Associates has gained 2.5% at Rs 220.
Reliance Infrastructure, Reliance and Hindalco have added 2% each to Rs 1,219, Rs 2,350 and Rs 103, respectively.
Tata Steel, ICICI Bank and TCS are also up.
The market breadth is fairly negative. out of 2,577 stocks traded, 1,659 have declined while 842 have advanced.
