IT index slipped 10% to 2,854 as compared to its previous close. Patni Computers plunged 17.5% to Rs 181 and MPhasis tumbled 13% to Rs 259.
Infosys slumped 11% to Rs 1,564.
Wipro was down 9% at Rs 356. TCS, Tech Mahindra, Oracle, NIIT and Rolta declined 4-8% each.

The BSE IT index has slipped 319 points (10%) to 2,855, even as the Sensex zoomed 600 points in the late afternoon deals.
Earlier in the day, the index opened up 18 points at 3,193. However, it could not hold gains and soon tumbled to a low of 2,850.
Infosys has plunged 12% to Rs 1,565. Wipro has declined 9% at Rs 385. TCS has dropped 7.5% to Rs 677.
MphasiS has crashed 15% to Rs 255. Patni Computers has tumbled 14% to Rs 188.
NIIT, Oracle Financial Services Software, Tech Mahindra and Rolta India have also declined.
However, Financial Technology India has soared over 10% to Rs 940.
