Continuing its slide, jeera futures prices fell by another 0.95% to Rs 14,585 per quintal today as speculators indulged in trimming their positions amid hopes of better sowing following improved rains in the top producing region.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in October fell by Rs 140, or 0.95%, to 14,585 per quintal, with an open interest of 23,427 lots.
September jeera moved down by Rs 125, or 0.87%, to Rs 14,222.50 per quintal, with an open interest of 8,115 lots.
Analysts said the fall in jeera futures prices was due to continued off-loading of positions by speculators on hopes of better sowing following improved rains in the top producing state of Gujarat and increased supplies in the domestic market.
