Lead prices declined by 0.50% to Rs 140.50 per kg in futures trade today as speculators reduced their holdings following sluggish spot market demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in September declined by 70 paise, or 0.50% to Rs 140.50 per kg in business turnover of 3643 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in October traded lower by 70 paise, or 0.49% to Rs 141.30 per kg in 175 lots.

Market analysts said speculators reduced their holdings on account of sluggish demand from battery makers in the spot market mainly led to decline in lead prices at futures trade.
