Lead prices weakened by 0.72% to Rs 138 per kg in futures trade today as speculators indulged in squaring-up of positions in view of ending settlement amid a weak global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in January weakened by Re one, or 0.72%, to Rs 138 per kg in business turnover of 378 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in December traded lower by 90 paise, or 0.65% to Rs 136.70 per kg in 268 lots.

Market analysts attributed the fall in lead futures to squaring up of positions in view of monthly settlement and a weak global trend.
