Lead up on strong spot demand, overseas cues

February lead traded 70 paise, or 0.51%, higher at Rs 136.70 per kg, with a turnover of eight lots

Tracking a firming trend in base metals overseas and rising spot demand, lead futures were up by 0.51% at Rs 136.70 per kg as participants enlarged positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, February lead traded 70 paise, or 0.51%, higher at Rs 136.70 per kg, with a turnover of eight lots.

The January delivery also rose by 60 paise, or 0.44%, to trade at Rs 135.55 per kg, in a business turnover of 309 lots.

Marketmen said besides increased domestic demand from battery-makers, a firm trend at the London Metal Exchange, influenced lead prices at futures trade here.
