Markets back in red

The markets have again dropped into the red. The Sensex has slipped 86 points from yesterday's close to 17,337.

The Nifty is down 25 points at 5,186.

The BSE IT index has advanced 1.5% to 5,275. However, the realty, bankex and auto indices are down 1-2% in trades today.

Mahindra & Mahindra has dropped 2.6% to Rs 1,158. DLF and SBI have shed 2% each at Rs 377 and Rs 2,163, respectively. Other banking stocks are also down. ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank have slipped around 1.5% each.

Sterlite has dipped 1.7% to Rs 860. HDFC is down 1.5% at Rs 2,522.

Hero Honda, Sun Pharma, Jaiprakash Associates, BHEL and Bharti Airtel are the other top losers in the Sensex today.

However, IT stocks have held on to gains. TCS has surged 3% to Rs 773. Wipro has gained 2% at Rs 809. ACC and Infosys have dded 1.3% each.

The BSE market breadth is negative. Out of 2,791 stocks traded, 1,497 have declined while 1,223 have advanced.
