Markets marginally in red

The markets are trading marginally in the red. The Sensex is at 16,322, down 33 points and the Nifty is at 4,880, down 18 points. The energy, bank and power indices are trading weak, while metal and realty stocks are bucking the trend.

NTPC has dropped 1.8% to Rs 207. Reliance Communications has slipped 1.3% at Rs 171 and Hero Honda has lost 1.2% at Rs 1,560. Jaiprakash Associates, SBI and Reliance are the other notable losers.

On the other hand, Hindalco is up 3.6% at Rs 154, HDFC has added 1.8% to Rs 2,428 and Sun Pharma has hardened by 1.4% to Rs 1529.

The BSE market breadth is, however, positive. Out of 2,862 stocks traded, 1,773 have advanced while 1008 have declined.
