Markets move higher

After a decent opening, the markets have continued to trade higher and has registered an intra-day high of 19,706 and continues to hover around the same. The Nifty too has added 27 points at 5,912. The smallcap index has moved furthur and is up 0.9% while the midcap index is static at 0.6%. The benchmark index continues to underperform at 0.4%.

In the smallcap space, 410 scrips have advanced while 109 have declined. The movers here are Premier, Surana Inustries and Cosmo Films up 7% each. In the midcap area, 191 scrips have moved up and 75 scrips have gone down.The gainers are Blue Star up nearly 10%, Nava Bharat Ventures, Brigade Enterprise gaining 5% each.

On the BSE sectoral indices, FMCG up 2% is the top gainer followed by Consumer Durables at 1.4%, Teck, Realty and Health Care. Metal index has slipped into the red at 0.08% and is at the bottom of tha chart. The gainers in the FMCG space are ITC and Colgate Palmolive up 3% ecah followed by Hindustan Unilever, Nestle India gaining 1% each.

Reliance Communications up nearly 4% continues to lead the Sensex gainers list followed by ITC adding 3%, ACC and Bharti Airtel gaining 2%, Hero Honda, Hindustan Unilever, HDFC, DLF and Jaiprakash Associates adding 1% each.

On the losers list are Sterlite down nearly 2%, ICICI Bank and Maruti Suzuki shedding 0.2% and 0.1% respectively round off the list.

The market breadth is positive.1848 stocks have advanced while 800 stocks have declined.
