The markets have come off their intra-day lows in the past one hour. The Sensex has regained about 60 points and is now quoting at 16,375, weaker by 120 points, and the Nifty is at 4,883, down 48 points.
The Asian markets have dipped further into the negative; the Hang Seng has shed 320 points and the Nikkei has lost 80 points.
HDFC, Hindalco and Tata Steel have weakened by 2.1% each at Rs 2455, Rs 152 and Rs 587 respectively. Jaiprakash Associates, Sterlite and Tata Motors have declined between 1% and 2% each.
On the other hand, Hindustan Unilever and ICICI Bank have added 0.4% each to Rs 237 and Rs 841 respectively.
The market breadth is neutral. Out of 2461 stocks traded on the BSE, there are 1185 advancing stocks as against 1189 declines.
