The markets have opened sideways in line with their Asian counterparts. The Sensex is quoting at 17545, higher by 25 points and the Nifty is at 5252, up six points.
The Asian markets are flat in early trades. The Hang Seng is quoting higher by one point and Shanghai Composite is down one point in early trades.
The Dow had closed stronger by 45 points and Nasdaq had ended higher by two points overnight.
Bharti Airtel has gained 1% at Rs 304. Sterlite, Tata Power, Jaiprakash Associates have also moved up around 1% each.
HDFC has dropped 1% to Rs 2,711.
Most other stocks are trading flat.
Among the A group stocks, BEL has gained 2% at Rs 2,141. Cummins India, Idea Cellular, BEML and SCI are the other top gainers in the group.
