Markets remain lacklustre

The markets continued to trade on a weak note in the last of hour of trade, the Sensex was at 18,175 lower by 35 points and the S&P CNX Nifty shed 12 point to 5446.

Hero Honda led the losers chart on the Snesex, the stock was trading lower by .5% at Rs 1427, Tata Motors also lost 2.2% and was at Rs 1175. DLF, NTPC, Maruti Suzuki, Tata Power, Tata Steel, HDFC Bank and Mahiondra & Mahindra were also among the losers. On the other hand Wipro, Sterlite Industries, Jindal Steel, Reliance Industries, Larsen & Toubro were among the gainers.

On the sectoral fron BSE Auto index was the top loser the index shed 120 points or 1.4% at 8597. BSE Realty index was also lower by 24 points or 1.2% at 2027. Bankex, Healthcare, PSU, Power and Metal indices were also trading in the negative zone. Meanwhile Consumer durable, oil & gas, IT, FMCG and capitalc goods stocks witnessed some buying.

Hero Honda was the top loser among the auto stocks followed by Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, Mahindra & Mahindra, Maruti Suzuzki, Bharat Forge, Cummins India and Apollo Tyres were also trading lower. Among the realty stocks Sunteck Realty was the top loser followed by D B realty, HDIL, DLF, Orbit Corp, Godrej Properties and Mahindra Lifespace developers.

The broader markets were also trading with a negative bias. The BSE mid-cap index lost 45 points at 6615 and the small-cap index was lower by 47 points at 8081.

The overall market breadth was negative as 1596 stocks declined while 975 stocks advanced.
