Markets slip into negative

The Sensex has slipped into the negative and is now at 17,562, down 30 points. The NSE Nifty is now 12 points down at 5,250.

The markets have come off from their day's high and is now at 17,615, up 25 points.

The NSE Nifty is at 5,264, up two points.

Bharti Airtel is the major gainer, up 2% at Rs 317. The other major gainers were Hero Honda, NTPC, DLF, Reliance Infrastrcuture and Infosys, up 1% each.

Hindalco and Hindustan Unilever on the other hand have slipped 1% each to Rs 182 and Rs 238, respectively.

Reliance Industries, ITC and Sterlite are down 0.5% each on the BSE.

The market breadth is positive, out of 2,257 shares traded, 1,459 have advanced and 730 have declined so far on the BSE.

The BSE midcap and the smallcap indices are flat, up 0.5% each.

Among the sectoral indices, realty and auto indices have added 1% each on the BSE. Ansal Properties, Peninsula Land and Phoenix Mills are the top gainers on the realty index.

FMCG and metal indices on the other hand have slipped 0.5%
