The Sensex is quoting at 16, 611, down 107 points, and the Nifty is weak by 31 points at 4,938.
Hindalco has slipped 4.1% to Rs 128, Infosys has shed 4% at Rs 2,269 and Sterlite is down 2.7% at Rs 747.
Tata Steel has declined 2.2% to Rs 509 and DLF is weaker 2.2% to Rs 414.
Meanwhile, HDFC Bank is up 2.6% to Rs 1611, Bharti Airtel has added 1.9% to Rs 422 and NTPC has gained 1.9% at Rs 213.
The market breadth is negative. Out of 2,765 stocks traded on the BSE, there were 1,461 declining stocks as against 1,223 advances.
