The Sensex, after yesterday's extraordinary gain, opened at 14,758. However, it slipped into the red within a few seconds of opening trades and touched a low of 13,834.
It is now down 100 points at 14,184.
HDFC Bank has plunged 12% to Rs Rs 1,210. Infosys has tumbled 9.5% to Rs 1,600. Jaiprakash Associates has crashed 9% to Rs 155.
Hindalco has shed 8.5% at Rs 74. TCS, Sterlite, Wipro and Tata Steel has declined 5-7% each.
There are few gainers in the Sensex.
Sun Pharma is up 7.16% to Rs 1,500, Mahindra & Mahindra has gained 7% to Rs 616 and Maruti has advanced nearly 6% to Rs 982.
Grasim and L&T are up over 4% each. SBI, DLF, HDFC and ACC are the other gainers.
