Mentha oil prices rose by Rs 29 to Rs 1,393.70 per kg in futures trade today as the investors increased their holdings tracking a firm domestic as well as export demand.
Sentiment improved further on account of the reduced arrivals in the physical market due to the less supply from the growing areas of Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh.
At the MCX, mentha oil for delivery in May rose by Rs 29, or 2.12%, to Rs 1,393.70 per kg, with a trading volume of 392 lots.
The prices for delivery in the June contract also increased by Rs 22.50, or 1.66%, to Rs 1,374 per kg, with a business turnover of 188 lots.
Marketmen said a firming trend at the spot markets amid restricted supplies from producing regions mainly influenced mentha oil prices at futures trade here.
