Mentha oil prices fell by Rs 12.10 to Rs 1,160 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits at prevailing higher levels amid weak demand in the spot market.

Adequate stocks in the spot market following increased arrivals from Chandousi in Uttar Pradesh also put pressure on mentha oil prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the October contract for mentha oil fell by Rs 12.10, or 1.03 per cent, to Rs 1,160 per kg, with a business turnover of Rs 129 lots.

The November contract declined by Rs 11.70, or 0.98 per cent, to Rs 1,174.50 per kg, with a business turnover of 801 lots.

Marketmen attributed the fall in mentha oil futures to profit-booking by speculators and a weak industrial demand in the spot market.
