Mentha oil gained 0.17 per cent to Rs 847.70 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions amid rising domestic demand and tight supplies from producing belts.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in June rose by Rs 1.40, or 0.17 per cent to Rs 847.70 per kg in business turnover of 203 lots.

The May contract added Rs 1.20, or 0.14 per cent to Rs 835 per kg in 468 lots.

Marketmen said fresh positions built-up by speculators on the back rising demand from consuming industries in the spot market, mainly led to rise in mentha oil prices at futures trade.
