Mentha oil prices gained by Rs 10.70 to Rs 1,188.90 per kg in futures trade today, as traders created fresh positions, driven by pick up in demand at the spot market.
Restricted arrivals in the physical market also influenced mentha oil futures prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, mentha oil for delivery in February gained by Rs 10.70, or 0.90 per cent to Rs 1,188.90 per kg, with an open interest of 43 lots. While delivery in January edged up by Rs 10.20 or 0.87 per cent, to Rs 1,179.30 per kg, with business turnover of 439 lots.
Similarly, the oil for delivery in December rose by Rs 10, or 0.86 per cent to Rs 1,163 per kg, with a business turnover of 161 lots.
Market analysts said fresh buying by traders following pick up in spot demand and lower arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh pushed up mentha oil prices at futures trade.
