Moong, gram fall on sluggish demand

Moong and gram prices fell up to Rs 300 per quintal in the wholesale pulses market today on emergence of stockists selling followed by fall in demand at prevailing higher levels.

Increased arrivals from the producing regions also put pressure on the prices. Marketmen said emergence of stockists selling due to fall in demand at higher levels mainly pulled down moong and gram prices. 

Meanwhile, the State Trading Corporation (STC) has invited bids to import 75,000 tonnes of Canadian yellow peas to be delivered between July and September.

Moong and its dal chilka local fell by Rs 300 each to Rs 6,000-6,300 and Rs 6,700-7,100, while moong dal dhoya local and best quality traded lower by the similar margin at Rs 6,800-7,000 and Rs 7,200-7,400 per quintal.

Gram and its dal local variety lost Rs 25 each at Rs 2,225-2,300 and Rs 2500-2525 per quintal.
