NHPC dips on corruption, irregularities charges report

Shares of NHPC slip 8% to Rs 19.35

NHPC has dipped almost 8% to Rs 19.35 after the Power Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that around 19 cases of alleged corruption and irregularities in the company's projects have been reported.
 
The allegations included corruption and complaints against officers of the company regarding irregularities or malpractices at Dhauliganga Power Station.
 
These cases, which pertain to the construction work of various projects of NHPC, have been reported during the years 2010, 2011 and 2012, Power Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said in a reply to the Lok Sabha, the PTI report suggests.
 
The stock opened at Rs 20.65 and hit a low of Rs 19.20 on BSE. A combined 12.44 million shares have changed hands on the counter till 1152 hours on BSE and NSE.
