Nickel prices were up by 0.52% to Rs 651.60 per kg in futures trade today on pick up in demand from consuming industries in the spot market even as metal weakened overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in October moved up Rs 3.50, or 0.52%, to Rs 651.60 per kg in a business turnover of 919 lots.

Also, the metal for delivery in November gained Rs 2.10, or 0.32%, to Rs 656.90 per kg in 33 lots.

Market analysts said pick-up in demand from consuming industries at the spot markets led to the rise in nickel prices at futures trade here but metals losses at the London Metal Exchange (LME), capped the gains.
