Nifty recovers after a brief slippage

The NSE Nifty is at 4,468, up 70 points now. The index has recovered slightly after paring some marginal gains. However, the BSE Sensex is at 15,049, up 206 points.

The NSE Nifty touched a high of 4,501 within an hour of its opening. The index is exhibiting sideways movement and is at at 4,466, up 67 points.

Sterlite has surged nearly 5% to Rs 631. Hindalco has rallied 4.5% to Rs 89.

ITC, Tata Steel, DLF and Reliance Infrastructure have gained 3.5% each to Rs 225, Rs 413, Rs 357 and Rs 1,127, respectively.

Reliance Infrastructure, Siemens, Idea, Reliance Communications, HCL, SAIL, Unitech have advanced 3% each.

Sun Pharma has declined over 3% to Rs 1,256. Bharti Airtel and ONGC are the other losers.

The BSE Sensex is at 15,057, up 21 points.

The market breadth is extremely positive - out of 2,155 stocks, 1,485 have advanced and 597 have declined.
