Non-basmati rice picks up on increased demand

Non-basmati rice prices rose by Rs 50 per quintal in the wholesale grains market today on increased demand against restricted arrivals.

Traders said increased demand against restricted arrivals from producing regions due to flood in some neighbouring states pushed up the wholesale non-basmati rice prices.

In the rice section, permal raw,wand, sela and IR-8 were up by Rs 50 each to Rs 1,925-1,975, Rs 2,000-2,150, Rs 2,225- 2,275 and Rs 1,750-1,775 per quintal, respectively.
