Potato down 0.9% on low demand
Commodity for delivery in March traded lower by 0.85%
Press Trust of India New Delhi Potato prices moved down by 0.92% to Rs 854 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators offloaded positions, triggered by low demand in the spot market against higher supplies.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in April moved down by Rs 7.90, or 0.92%, to Rs 854 per quintal in business turnover of 6 lots.
Potato for delivery in March traded lower by Rs 7.50, or 0.85%, to Rs 876.50 per 10 kg in 51 lots.
Market analysts said fall in potato prices was mostly due to offloading of positions by speculators due to low demand in the spot market against higher supplies from producing belts.
