Potato remained weak for the second straight and prices shed 1.28% to Rs 1,152.50 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators offloaded positions their positions, triggered by higher supplies from producing regions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in March fell by Rs 15, or 1.28% to Rs 1152.50 per quintal in business turnover of 114 lots.

Likewise, the potato for delivery in April lost Rs 11.50, or 0.97% to Rs 1168.40 per quintal in 101 lots.

Market analysts said offloading of positions by speculators amid higher supplies from producing belts, mainly pulled down potato prices at futures trade.
