Provisional: Markets end lower; IT shares drag

Markets ended lower amid selling by FIIs and higher-than-expected inflation

The markets ignored the positive vibes from the global bourses to lose their way in the post-noon session due to caution surrounding FII outflows in the past two trading sessions and higher-than-expected inflation data released on Tuesday. Further, muted Q4 growth expectations from TCS, which will announce its earnings after market hours, further dampened sentiments.

The Sensex ended at 22,265, weaker by 220 points and the Nifty ended at 6674, down 59 points.
