Provisional: Nifty ends above 6,300; HDFC up 3%

Markets surged after Dec WPI which eased to 5-month low raised hopes of a neutral stance by the RBI

Markets surged over 1% on Wednesday with the Nifty ending above 6,300 level for the first time since January 1, 2014 after December WPI which eased to a 5-month low raised hopes that the Reserve Bank of India would maintain status quo on key policy rates for the second straight month at its policy meet end-January..

The 30-share Sensex ended up 241 points or  1.1% at 21,273 and the 50-share Nifty ended up 78 points or 1.2% at 6,320.
