The Sensex is moving in a narrow range of 50-odd points, from a low of 8,895, to a high of 8,960, and is now down 80 points at 8,922.
Larsen & Toubro has slumped 3.5% to Rs 588.
DLF and ICICI Bank have tumbled 3% each to Rs 168 and Rs 328, respectively.
BHEL has shed nearly 2% to Rs 1,386. SBI and Bharti Airtel have slipped around 1.5% each to Rs 953 and Rs 562, respectively.
Reliance Communications, HDFC and Maruti are down around 1% each at Rs 155, Rs 1,373 and Rs 723, respectively.
Hindalco has surged nearly 3% to Rs 46. Tata Power and Tata Steel have gained 1.5% each at Rs 673 and Rs 176, respectively.
Sterlite and ONGC are up 1% each at Rs 318 and Rs 738, respectively.
The market breadth is marginally negative - out of 2,105 stocks traded so far, 1,038 have declined, and 967 have advanced.
