Terminal markets of cotton in Sirsa district have so far witnessed arrival of over 195,000 quintals of the crop, which is the highest cotton arrival in the terminal market (cotton) all across the state.
While stating this here, an official spokesman said that cotton had arrived in all the five mandis of Sirsa. The highest of over 88,000 quintals of cotton has arrived in local mandis.
He said that cotton was cultivated over an area of 210,000 hectares in Sirsa district in view of its remunerative prices and abundant production.
Last year cotton was cultivated over an area of 1.89 lakh hectares and this year the area under cotton had increased by 21,000 hectares. Sirsa alone had 35 per cent of area under cotton cultivation as compared to total area of cotton cultivation in the state.
