Rubber import review

The commerce ministry is looking at ways, including a reduction in import duty, to increase the domestic availability of rubber at lower prices. An official said the likely action would be finalised in a week.

He said a major problem was the inverted duty structure under which the import duty on tyres was higher than the levy on imported rubber.
