Select commodities decline on sluggish demand

Select commodity prices drifted up to Rs 200 per quintal in the wholesale pulses market today owing to slack demand at higher levels against increased arrivals.

Marketmen said increased supply in view of sluggish demand at higher levels pulled down the wholesale select pulses prices.

Meanwhile, the state-run trading company PEC invited global bids for importing 248 tonnes of different varieties of pulses, to be delivered between September and October this year.

Urad and its dal chilka local fell by Rs 200 and Rs 100 to Rs 5,400-5,950 and Rs 6,000-6,400, while best quality and dhoya traded lower by the Rs 200 each to Rs 6,500-6,800 and Rs 6,600-6,700 per quintal.

Masoor small and bold eased by Rs 100 each to Rs 3,300 -3,500 and Rs 3,500-3,750 per quintal.

In line with a general weakening trend, moong and its dal chilka local and dhoya local lost Rs 200 each to Rs 4,500- 4,900, Rs 5,300-5,700 and Rs 5,800-6,000 per quintal.
