Select pulses dip on sluggish demand

Select pulses dropped by Rs 200 per quintal on the wholesale pulses market today due to selling by stockists on sluggish demand. Increased arrivals from producing regions, also put pressure on the wholesale pulse prices.

Marketmen said increased supplies against subdued demand mainly pulled down wholesale pulses prices. Meanwhile,government has increased minimum support price of pulses by up to Rs 380 per quintal for the rabi crops of 2010-11.

Urad and its dal chilka local fell by Rs 200 each to Rs 4,000-4550 and Rs 4,800-5,200, while its best quality and dhoya traded lower by the same margin to Rs 5400-5700 and Rs 5500-5600 per quintal.

Moong and its dal chilka local followed suit and lost Rs 200 each to Rs 4,050-4,450 and Rs 4,850-5,250 and dhoya local and best traded lower by the similar margin to Rs 5,400-5,600 and Rs 6,000-6,200 per quintal.

Masoor small and bold too traded in negative zone with a loss of Rs 200 each to Rs 3,000-3200 and Rs 3,200-3,450 per quintal.

In line with a general weakening trend, arhar and its dal dara variety lost Rs 200 each to Rs 3,600-3,700 and Rs 4,600-5,000 per quintal.

Kabli gram small declined by Rs 200 to Rs 4,350-5,550 per quintal.
