Sensex below 9K, down 367pts; Wipro slumps 8%
The Sensex is now down below the 9,000-mark at 8,924 - down 367 points.
Wipro has slumped over 8% to Rs 231. ICICI Bank and Tata Power have tumbled around 7% each to Rs 359 and Rs 675, respectively.
ACC has plunged over 6% to Rs 410. Reliance Infrastructure and HDFC have dropped nearly 6% each to Rs 456 and Rs 1,413, respectively.
Sterlite, Satyam, SBI and NTPC have slipped around 5.5% each to Rs 215, Rs 238, Rs 1,104 and Rs 143, respectively.
Bharti Airtel, TCS, Jaiprakash Associates and HDFC Bank have shed 5% each at Rs 632, Rs 493, Rs 69 and Rs 888, respectively.
Hindalco, Infosys, ONGC, Mahindra & Mahindra and Grasim are down around 4% each at Rs 52, Rs 1,180, Rs 671, Rs 306 and Rs 980, respectively.
The market breadth is fairly negative - out of 1,989 stocks traded so far, 1,386 have declined, 529 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
