Sensex breaks 12K; Rel Communications plunges 9%

The Sensex dipped below the 12,000-mark and touched a low of 11,954. The index is now down 517 points at 12,009.

Tata Power has slumped nearly 13% to Rs 775. Jaiprakash Associates and Sterlite have plunged over 11% each to Rs 103 and Rs 350, respectively.

Reliance Communications has tumbled over 9% to Rs 303, and Tata Steel has crashed 8.5% to Rs 360.

DLF and Reliance Infrastructure have shed 8% each to Rs 309 and Rs 682, respectively.

BHEL has dropped 7% to Rs 1,458. TCS and Infosys have slipped over 6% each to Rs 616 and Rs 1,305, respectively.

Satyam has declined 5.5% to Rs 297. Ranbaxy and ICICI Bank are down 5% each at Rs 251 and Rs 480, respectively.

Out of 2,345 stocks traded so far, 2,044 have declined, 263 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
