Sensex climbs over 100pts

The Sensex is now at 16,581, up 150 points. The NSE Nifty is at 4,920, up 40 points. ______________________________________________________

After days of volatility the Sensex this morning opened on a flat note amid subdued global cues.

The Sensex opened at 16,444, up just three points. The index touched a high of 16,471, and a low of 16,418 in early trades so far. The index is now up 10 points at 16,451.

Sterlite has moved up 1.4% to Rs 817. Reliance Infrastructure has gained 1% at Rs 1,113.

Tata Motors, Wipro and ACC are the other notable gainers.

Reliance Communications has shed 2% at Rs 166. Maruti and DLF have slipped nearly 1.5% each to Rs 1,424 and Rs 373, respectively.

SBI, Hero Honda and Grasim are the other prominent losers.

The Sensex has opened flat at 16,439. The index is now marginally up at 16,462 - up 21 points.

The Nifty is up five points at 4,887.
