Sensex continues to languish

The Sensex has not been able to recover and is now down 47 points at 16,838. The Nifty is down 14 poinst at 5,006.

Jaiprakash Associates has plunged 5% to Rs 237.

Bharti Airtel and Mahindra & Mahindra have dropped 2% each to Rs 419 and Rs 869, respectively.

Tata Power and Reliance Infrastructure have shed 1.5% each to Rs 1,296 and rs 1,228, respectively. Larsen & Toubro, Infosys and Hindustan Unilever have moved down over 1% each.

Meanwhile, Sterlite continues to hold gains and is now up 2.5% at Rs 778. HDFC Bank has added 2% to Rs 1,575.

The market breath continues to negative. Out of 2,661 stocks traded 1,492 have declined while 1,084 have advanced.
