Sensex down 131pts on profit booking

The Sensex has slipped to a low of 14,761 due to selling in the realty and metal stocks.

The index is now 131 points lower at 14,972.

The BSE Realty index has declined 4.5% to 3,843. The Metal index is down 3% at 11,342.

Tata Steel and Sterlite have dropped 4.2% each to Rs 444 and Rs 644, respectively.

Jaiprakash Associates has slipped over 3.5% to Rs 224.

SBI, Ranbaxy and Hindalco have shed over 3% each to Rs 1,761, Rs 276 and Rs 90, respectively.

DLF has declined 2.5% to Rs 397.

Reliance Infrastructures, Mahindra & Mahindra, HDFC, Reliance and ICICI are down 1-2% each.

Infosys has added over 2.5% to Rs 1,736.

Larsen & Toubro , Grasim, Wipro and TCS have gained 1-2% each.

The market breadth is negative, out of 2,393 shares traded, 1,564 have declined, 778 have advanced and 51 are unchanged so far on the BSE.
