Sensex down 210pts; auto stocks buck trend

The Sensex continues to display lacklustre movement and is now down 209 points at 8,682. Earlier in the day, the index opened with a negative gap of 129 points at 8,763, and soon touched a low of 8,644 on the back of weak global cues.

ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank have slumped around 4% each to Rs 315 and Rs 851, respectively.

Tata Steel and ONGC have shed over 3.5% each at Rs 166 and Rs 667, respectively.

Reliance Infrastructure and ACC have plunged over 3% each to Rs 475 and Rs 523, respectively.

TCS has dropped 3% to Rs 466. HDFC has slipped nearly 3% to Rs 1,233.

Bharti Airtel, Sun Pharma and Hindustan Unilever have declined around 2.5% each to Rs 620, Rs 988 and Rs 247, respectively.

Reliance Communications and Grasim are down 2.3% each at Rs 152 and Rs 1,340, respectively.

Mahindra & Mahindra has rallied 3% to Rs 319. Tata Motors and Maruti have advanced over 1.5% each to Rs 152 and Rs 688, respectively.
